I had a look at 'Fun Stuff" and the One Sentence www.onesentence.org. It was a bit of fun. Didn't have a lot of time so may do more later.

#18 Web-based Apps

I had a look at Zoho writer. It looks easy to use. Pretty much like Word. As others have mentioned, it would be very useful for computers without Word added. I should add not only was it easy to use but also easy to access.

I added my blog and had a play in sandbox. I liked looking at the 'favorite Books'.

# 16 Wikis

It was very interesting to see how other libraries are using Wikis. I can see it being used as a cross between our newsletter and our current home page. It would be great to have people adding titles to our existing booklists. There could be an ongoing bookclub sort of thing where people could comment on the same book and recommend others. People love to talk about an exciting book they have just finished. This way they can jump onto the local library wiki and have their say and also get feedback. I think this would be very exciting.

#15 Web 2.0

As was stated in the articles the libraries will know today will be a far different thing from the libraries of 5 and 10 years time. Web 2.0 will help us leap the gap to the library of the future.
We are all learning the new technology associated with web 2.0 and this is expanding our knowledge . There are so many ways that libraries will be using these new ideas.
I read that we should " reach out to the entire web, to the edges and not just the centre". I guess that is what Web 2.0 is teaching us.

Are they new blogs popping up all the time? Mind blowing. I set up a technorati account....needed some help with what to do next. Working by myself today will consult a colleague next week. There may be more to follow.

For my first look around del-ici0-us i did a search on the Geelong Football Club and got a list of official web sites and blogs. It was interesting to read the blogs and others musings on the one topic. I then visited the PLCML2 set up for us to have a look. Wow really interesting. Read all about libraries displaying RSS feeds from their catalogs and more.

Image Generators....lots of fun and useful for many tasks...posters, birthday cards and storytimes.

#9 Finding Feeds

I had a look at Topix.net, Feedster etc....liked Feedster as it seemed very quick and current. Did a search on Chris Judd (what did you expect???? I am FootyFan) and found out the Carlton deal has been sealed. This information was posted 15 minutes ago.

#7 Blog about Technology

Camera phones....how good are they!!! You don't always have your digital camera on you but you always have your phone. A women came into the Library and we thought she had returned her own book (not a library book). She said it did not look familiar but took a photo of the book on her phone to check with her daughter if the book was actually their own copy. Fantastic!

Really Simple Syndication.....well yeah I'm sure it is simple AND great to use BUT I just need a bit more time to get into it all. I think the most use I personally would have for it is to be informed of best sellers, top ten lists etc.

Mashups
I had a look at various Mashups and I really like the sound of 'Coverpop' mentioned in the 'Mashup Awards'. 'Coverpop is a generative art engine that is set up to display feeds from YouTube etc in the form of colour-sorted mosaic imagery.' How cool does that sound. I know lots of young bands who are on YouTube. It would be great to compile them into a mosaic. Do I think I can do It? Not without alot of help!!!
